We've all seen the adverts on TV of fit models and sexy celebs working out in their living rooms on a white board. But, can a computer game actually help you to lose weight? lets find out
What is the Wii Fit?
The Wii Fit is a balance board that plugs into your Wii console. It's similar to an aerobics board but is much more intelligent. The board can take up to 300lbs or about 21st and is very sturdy and precise. The board allows for a wide range of activities like jogging, strength-training, aerobics and yoga.

How does it work?
You start off by creating your profile, the Wii Fit will measure your weight, workout your BMI and you'll be asked to do some basic balancing moves and your Wii Fit Age will be calculated.
Once you've created your profile its time for the fun. The main categories you can choose from are: Aerobics, Yoga, Strength Training and Balancing Games. You are guided through the first 3 exercises by your own personal trainer to help you to get used to them. The more time you spend exercising and the better you become you earn Fit Credits that allow you to unlock more challenging exercises and activities which are designed to push you even harder.
The numbers
If you use the Wii fit for an average of 12.2 hours a week you'll burn around 1,800 calories
On the most challenging games you can increase your heart rate to 130 beats per minute
If you use the Wii Fit for an average for 12.2 hours a week you could lose 27lbs of weight per year

Wii Fit review conclusion
The Wii Fit is a fun way to exercise at home. It can be a great introduction to exercise and massive amounts of fun for the kids.
But, using the Wii Fit for a few hours a week isn't going to make much of a difference to your weight. The exercises aren't hard enough to get into the fat burning zone and you'd have to spend 12 hours week on it every week to see any kind of result. Most adults don't have 12 hours a week to play computer games.
The Wii Fit can be a fun addition to your weight loss program but don't expect amazing results from it.
